About us

Made in Canberra, for Canberra

We've been bringing axe throwing to Canberra since 2018. Locally owned, independently operated and always looking for new ways to make things more fun.

Our story

Canberra Boring? We Disagree.

We're Chris and Jesse, two Canberra locals who love games, creativity and finding new ways to have fun.

We've always found Canberra's reputation for being boring a little strange. Anyone who lives here knows it's a great place with plenty going on, and we've made it our mission to add a few more things to that list.

Our journey into entertainment started with bringing escape rooms to Canberra. After a few years of building puzzles and creating adventures, we ran out of room at our Mitchell venue and started looking for something new.

That's when we discovered axe throwing.

We loved the idea of bringing something completely different to Canberra, and with a little extra space, we decided to add a smash room too. After months of building, tinkering and plenty of late nights, Axxe and Breakr opened their doors in November 2018.

Since then, we've never stopped looking for ways to improve the experience. From developing our own technology to introducing new games, we're always trying to make Axxe a little more fun than it was yesterday.

We're proudly Canberra owned and operated, and we love being part of the local community. Whether it's supporting local charities, creating new experiences or simply watching a group have a great time, we're grateful to do what we do in a city we love.

And we're nowhere near finished.

We Couldn't Leave Well Enough Alone.

We love axe throwing, but after a few years, we started wondering how we could take the experience to a whole new level.

In 2023, we set out to reinvent what axe throwing could be. We spent countless hours designing, developing and building our very own Axxe Interactive System from the ground up.

The result? A completely unique experience combining projected targets, interactive lighting and 14 game modes that transform traditional axe throwing into something much more exciting.

From battling zombies and playing Battleship to challenging your mates at Beer Pong, there's always something different to try. It's still real axe throwing, just with a whole new way to play.

And because the technology is entirely our own, we're constantly developing new games, experimenting with features and finding ways to make the experience even better.

Proudly local

Canberra Is Home.

We're not a franchise or a big national chain. Axxe is a small, independently owned business, run by Canberra locals who genuinely love this city.

From the people who built the venue to the team welcoming you through the doors, we're proud of the local people who make Axxe what it is.

Being part of the Canberra community means a lot to us. We love getting involved, supporting local charities and community organisations, and helping out wherever we can.

At the end of the day, we want to give Canberrans more reasons to get out, try something different and have a great time together.

Because Canberra has never been boring to us. And we're doing our bit to keep it that way.

What's next

Still Tinkering.

If there's one thing we're not very good at, it's leaving things alone. We're always coming up with new ideas, experimenting with game modes and looking for ways to make Axxe more fun.

Throughout 2026 and into 2027, we're giving Axxe a fresh new look and continuing to expand our interactive system, with new games, features and improvements on the way.

And because everything is developed in-house, we can keep experimenting, improving and even bringing your ideas to life. So if you've got a suggestion for a new game or something you'd love to see, let us know. We're always keen to hear it.

The next chapter of Axxe is already underway, and we're excited to share it with Canberra.
