The Axxe Experience

Every session at Axxe is private, starts with an introductory lesson and safety briefing, and is played on digital targets we designed and built here in Canberra.

  • Your own private lane

    You only throw with the people you bring. Up to 12 per lane, 6 lanes in total.

  • Two targets per lane

    Every lane has two targets, so two people can throw at once. More throwing, less waiting.

  • No experience needed

    Our coaches will show you how to throw safely and give you time to practise before you take on the games.

  • 14 interactive game modes

What to expect

From First Throw to Bullseye

  1. Book

    Choose your date and time, book online and secure your session with a deposit.

  2. Arrive

    Arrive a little early to sign your waiver and pay any remaining balance. Don't forget your closed-toe shoes!

  3. Learn

    Your coach will run through safety, demonstrate the technique and guide you through some practice throws to get you started.

  4. Play

    Compete in a tournament, try our interactive minigames or mix it up with both. Axes up. 3, 2, 1… THROW!

Good to know

Before You Throw

  • Bookings essential

    We recommend booking ahead, as we open by appointment only. Need something last-minute? Request a time online or get in touch and we'll do our best to fit you in.

  • Ages 11+

    Under 18s must be joined by a participating parent or guardian.

  • Closed-toe shoes

    All players must wear closed-toe shoes. No sandals, heels or thongs. No exceptions, so tell your group.

  • No alcohol

    We're not licensed and you'll need to be sober to throw. Throw first, party afterwards!

  • BYO food

    Snacks and soft drinks are for sale, or bring your own food (let us know first).

  • Free parking

    Free on-site and street parking is available. Spaces can be harder to find during weekday business hours (9am–5pm), so allow a little extra time.

Axe Throwing Questions

Is there a minimum age for axe throwing?
Axe throwing at Axxe is suitable for ages 11 and up. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian. We also offer a Family Deal, making it a great activity for families with older kids and teenagers.

How much does axe throwing cost in Canberra?

Standard axe throwing at Axxe Canberra costs $55 per person, with a minimum of two participants. We also offer special deals from $30 per person, including Cheap Tuesday, Mate/Date Night and family offers. Larger groups can take advantage of our special group packages.

How long is a session?

A standard axe-throwing session runs for 60 minutes, with extra time included for larger groups. Sessions run for 80 minutes with 7–9 players and 100 minutes with 10–12 players. We also offer two hour packages for larger groups.

Your session includes a safety briefing, introductory coaching and unlimited throws during your booked time.

Is axe throwing hard?
Not at all! Axe throwing is more about technique and timing than strength. Every session starts with a safety briefing, throwing lesson and guided practice to help you get started.

Do I need to book? Can I walk in?
We recommend booking ahead, as we open by appointment only and can't guarantee walk-ins. Can't find a suitable time? Request a session online or get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Is axe throwing safe?
Safety is our priority. Every session starts with a safety briefing, throwing demonstration and practice with one of our trained coaches. Our private lanes are separated from one another, and all participants must follow our safety rules and staff instructions throughout their session.

What are digital targets?

At Axxe, you're still throwing real axes at real wooden targets, but with an interactive twist! Our targets use digital projections, allowing you to switch between 14 game modes, including Beer Pong, Tic-Tac-Toe, Zombie Rush and classic bullseyes.

Our system is designed and built in-house, making it an axe-throwing experience unique to Axxe Canberra.

Unlimited! Once you've completed your safety briefing and coaching, you can throw as much as you like during your session. Run a tournament, try different game modes or simply practise your aim. It's up to you!
